Please note: This is a German brand. Due to the constant and reliable electrical power supply in Europe, this product is supplied with 3x AAA batteries only meant for use in the parent unit. 

It is expected that the baby unit would be plugged into a constant power source. The baby unit does take batteries (ideal for loadshedding) but These will need to be purchased separately by the consumer.

NB: Rechargeable batteries generally have a lower voltage than regular batteries. If using rechargeable batteries, you therefore may find they need to be replaced in the device more frequently.
